Bio| F A C T I O N ⇒ Created by Project Yurei, but really holds no loyalty to them. A B I L I T I E S ⇒ Ragnarok… is a sword. No really. He is one of a series – the Ragnarok Series – sentient, and almost magical blades created by Yurei to “kill the unkillable”. As a blade, he has the ability to gather large amounts of energy, called Norune, for attacks. What he can do with this Norune depends on how much he can gather, and how much focus he has. Still, the results are usually devastating. He can also “speak” and he can chose who can and can’t hear him. Most often he will speak only to his partner, but sometimes he can speak aloud for everyone to hear. Ragnarok is also able to manifest himself in a human form. Now, that’s not to say a sword suddenly morphs into a person, but rather the power inside the sword comes out and takes human form. So, when in this form, Ragnarok must carry the now powerless blade with him. While in this form, he can bleed and does get injured, but he heals incredibly fast. He also seems unable to die. We never get to see the extent of his abilities in human form, but I assume that since the power has come out of the sword, he can use the Norune in his human form, only on a much, much smaller scale. (Since he makes comments about past battles using his human form, he’s got to have some way to fight.) He also seems either incapable, or unwilling, to effectively use the sword as it is. P E R S O N A L I T Y ⇒ Calm and collected, Ragnarok is a veteran fighter as well as an observer. He knows what it takes to get a job done, and is of the opinion that it’s better to plan and take as much time as he can afford to achieve the desired goal, than to rush in haphazardly. Even so, circumstance has taught him to think on the fly if he has to, and his years with the soldiers have given him something of a sense of humor – if a bit of a dry one. He’s capable of showing emotion, but doesn’t do so often. Suffice to say, it’s his job to be the brains and the plans, while his partner supplies the muscle – a role he fills to the tee. H I S T O R Y ⇒ Yurei was in a bind. The enhanced humans and suchlike the Sphere was throwing at them were more than their science and sorcery could handle. Their already existing weapons were barely enough, and so it was a mad scramble to find something, anything, that would give them an edge. The invention of the Ragnarok Series was nothing short of a miracle. Created as an all-purpose weapon, the sword was capable of defeating even the most advanced of things that the Sphere had in their arsenal. At last the Yurei had a tool with which to stand against their enemy. The Ragnarok Series was the stepping-stone for many of Yurei’s other advancements, and always their first line of defense. Ragnarok himself saw many bloody battles, and changed hands several times. He knew that he would no doubt outlive every one of his partners, but that never stopped him from giving his all. He lost his last partner shortly before the wave hit. When the stalemate was called, the remaining swords in the series were either destroyed or put into hiding. Ragnarok himself the latter, until the storage facility where he was being held fell victim to robbery. The attempt was unsuccessful, but Ragnarok had been freed. He walked out of the storage facility and out into the world to make his own way, and perhaps find a new partner. |
